Tassie life

Hello everybody, another weekend with awesome weather (Sat 23°C and Sun 26°C) has come and gone and of course we have been out and about to enjoy the weather. We spent the weekend away on Bruny Island (South of Hobart) with our campervan. Thanks to a good hint from Axel, we went on a little hike and the spot we found turned out to be an excellent surf spot, also for Bine, surrounded by a stunning landscape.

Equipped with 2 surfboards, 2 backpacks, a kite and lots of water we started our 1 hour hike. Halfway through, we came past a lagoon, which was great for a quick pit stop with a nice view.

After approximately 30 minutes we arrived at the beach from where the road forks. Either take the beach walk or the overland track.

Unfortunately, we arrived at high tide, which made the beach track impassable, so we had to take the slightly longer overland track. The views, however, made up for it :-).

And we also came across this little fella, lying in the middle of the track and soaking up the sun, not being bothered by us at all.
Another beautiful view from the top of the hill, this time to the north.
Down at the beach, we first went for a short tour...

...to have a look at the arc, before finding a nice spot to spend the day.

Jan enjoying the view and checking out the waves.

A bit far away, but Jan in action.

Diving and seals part 2

Having discovered a seal colony a few weeks ago, we definately had to come back. Jan went for 2 dive sessions with Luis - Bine, Josh and Triin enjoyed the beautiful landscape and snorkelling with some seals.

Jan enjoying his first dive with our boat.

Luis enjoying a little bit of rock climbing :-)

 Jan discovering a seal...

...and being clearly excited about it!

Josh and Bine are quickly putting the snorkelling gear on and ducking their heads under the 12 degrees water... brrrr... but hey, you don't have the opportunity to snorkel with some seals every day.

Bine being clearly excited as well. Thanks to Luis for taking pictures and letting us use his camera.

Aurora Australis

We would like to share this quick snap shot with you, to show why our apartment is beautifully located ;-)

The Aurora Australis - floating past, being on a 'rescue mission'. This nice little snap shot has been taken from our bedroom. Yes bedroom! Thanks to our awsome camera and the vicinity to the waterfront, this has been possible and also very convenient for us ;-)

Beautiful Tasmania - Seals and Aurora - spectacle of nature

Hello everybody, last weekend we had amazing weather once again. But this time there weren't any good waves to surf and it would have been a bit too windy for waterskiing. So we decided to take our little boat out for a little tour around Eaglehawk Neck (South East of Hobart).

Apart from the beautiful scenery and its impressive cliffs, we discovered some furry friends in the water :-)

Being curious and swimming towards the boat...

...relaxing in the sun, scratching itchy spots and arguing on the rocks...

...and playing in the water.

Yesterday we were lucky to witness an Aurora for the first time. Thank you facebook for the notification :-)

Summer is near

Here some impressions of our little water ski and wakeboard experience for the first time! We had 2 amazing weekends in a row enjoying this awesome outdoor activity. Big thanks to Triin and Josh for taking us out :-)

 Jan clearly excited...

 ...and up he goes!

 Triin enjoying the spray :-)

Bine waterskiing for the first time...
...still holding on. Nothing better than a nice nosewash :-D

 Having fun.

Waterski and wakeboard pro Josh showing us how it's done :-)

 Noooiiice mate!

Finishing the day off with a nice barbeque, yuum.

Waterski adventure part 2: Triin and Josh showing us their beautiful summer holiday place at the lake.

But before getting into the nice and 'refreshing' water, the day needs to be started off with a good old egg and bacon brekki from the barbi :-)

Bine doing a bit better than last time, woohoo :-)
